My name is Kayla, I live in Prairieville and I am about to start my junior year at Dutchtown High! I have been teaching at Crawfish Swim School for about 3 and a half months and I absolutely love it!! I love many things about working at Crawfish. One of my favorites is being able to meet so many kids with different personalities and getting to see kids accomplish new skills everyday. I love my coworkers, we all work very well together & can always ask for any help if needed. I feel that we can all be our true self with one another and I LOVE that.
One of my best memories from working here would have to be when one of my kids, who was very scared of the water at the beginning of the summer session, told me as we were walking to the pool, “I am brave.” That made me smile and when it came her turn, she swam to me with no hesitation!
My favorite technique to teach kids is rollovers. I love this skill because a lot of my kids think it is fun & I think it is a very important skill for kids who go swimming by themselves.
Something interesting my kids may not know about me is that the beach is my favorite place ever and in the future I want to move near a beach.

I'm Julia and I was born in Covington, LA, but actually raised in Houma, LA. I am a senior at LSU majoring in journalism and minoring in Spanish. Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I also love getting involved with anything music-related.
I started teaching at the Crawfish Swim School in April. My favorite thing about working here is being able to connect with the students and watch their skills progress. I love the way my coworkers and I are immediately laughing together even during an early morning shift.
My favorite memory from teaching at Crawfish was when I was able to communicate with a child who only spoke Spanish. It felt good making her feel more at ease during her lesson.
My favorite thing to teach would be side breaths. It makes swimming and staying afloat much easier!
One thing I would like my swimmers to know is that I was on swim team from kindergarten until the end of high school. I even swam for Crawfish Aquatics in Thibodaux for a time!
"Julia has shown so much growth and initiative during her time at the Crawfish Swim School! I am constantly impressed by her attitude each and every day. Her work ethic and communication skills have absolutely blossomed! Keep up the great work!" -Sarah M, Adaptive Aquatics Director
