Audrey F

I am currently a Freshman at Louisiana State University studying Business and ultimately want to become a Lawyer. I live in Geismar with my family (Mom, Dad, younger brother, and younger sister.) This summer I will have been at Crawfish for two years. I enjoy working here so much because I love seeing the kids improve and have fun while swimming. I love the water so seeing them learn to love the water is so special to me. I also love how excited and fun my coworkers are. There is always a very bubbly energy at work. My favorite memory was when one of the kids I had been teaching was extremely scared of the water and we had been working on getting used to the water for weeks. This one day she came in and told me, “Ms. Audrey, I am going to go under today” and sure enough she did. And while she was scared we both worked through it. That day was one of my favorite days because I got to see her finally excel which is such an amazing feeling. My favorite skill to teach is rollover because I love seeing the kids get that independence. When they learn to roll, I feel like it is such a huge milestone they accomplished. I love seeing their happiness when they finally can roll by themselves.

"Audrey has been such a key component on the team since the time she started here! Her willingness to learn and excel in her position is one of the many reasons we value her on our team. She always has a great attitude and big smile on her face that is contagious to everyone! She wants to help whenever she possibly can. She is an amazing employee, peer, and instructor. We love her!" - Haylee J, Bayou Oaks Director

Tyler N

I am currently a sophomore at LSU studying Kinesiology- Exercise Science and Human Performance. I was born in Rogers, Arkansas, and have lived in Louisiana for the last four years. Outside of work, I spend a lot of my time at the Catholic Church on campus, Christ the King, I like to be active and spend lots of time at the campus gym, and University Recreation, and that takes up just about all of my time!

I've been at the Crawfish Swim School for three months. My favorite thing about working here is the children themselves. I am one of the youngest in my entire family, including cousins, so I did not get to grow up around little kids. The relationships that I have been able to build with them while teaching them how to swim have been my favorite part. My favorite thing about working with my coworkers is how they are so willing to help each other out and we all have the same goal; teaching kids the life important skill of swimming.

I really enjoy teaching kids how to back floats. I’ve found that the children love seeing the progress in their back floats when they finally are able to float by themselves.

When I was their age of going through swim lessons, I was the kid that did not want to get in the pool, didn’t want to float on my back, or mainly just sit, listen, and wait my turn to go next. That is part of the mentality that I take to work every day that I want an instructor that is always going to encourage them and we are going to work past whatever the issue may be because learning to swim is too important to just give up on.

"Tyler routinely demonstrates what it means to go above and beyond everyday. I was able to see Tyler working with a little boy who was in a group class but happened to be the only swimmer that day. Tyler finished his lesson in a private lesson timing (20 mins vs 30 mins) and brought him out to his mom. He was so excited to chat about the progress being made. However, he quickly realized he needed to give the child 10 more minutes of "group" time. Tyler gave the child a HUGE HIGH FIVE and said, "You want to get back in?" The child responded with an enthusiastic "YES!" and they proceeded to swim for a few more minutes. To Tyler every single moment counts and that is why he is on our team! We are so blessed to have him as part of the Crawfish Swim School family!" -Shelly Rogers, Crawfish Aquatics CEO

"Pretty early on in his training I had no doubt that Tyler would be an excellent addition to our team. He's patient, communicates well with the children and parents alike, and comes in ready and willing to help others out! It's been a pleasure working with Tyler and getting to know him." - Eddy T

"I've really enjoyed working with Tyler these last few months. He's so friendly and kind to his kids and everyone that works here. Overall, he brings a great energy to the swim school and I'm glad to have him on our team!" - Isabella G

Abigale R

I’ve been teaching at the swim school for about a month. The thing I love the most about my job is the environment. Everything is also so fun, light hearted and energetic. The kids and people here are amazing. Every coworker has such a beautiful personality. They’re all so different but the one thing that is constant is their positivity. Even when they have rough days you’d never know. Everyone is always smiling and talking to each other which forms amazing bonds. It stands out to me because I know I’m doing something right. I know I am actually accomplishing something and helping improve a student’s ability. Something interesting about me that my swimmers don’t know is that I crochet. I picked it up about a year ago. I’m not the best and don’t know too much, but whenever I have free time, if I'm not reading, I’m crocheting.

"Abigale has only been with the swim school for a short period of time but she has shown such growth! On her last day of training I had her independently teach a private lesson with a little girl and she did phenomenal. Shortly after she left she notified me how good it made her feel being able to feel trusted to teach on her own. She said she truly appreciates every opportunity we have for her here. From that point a few weeks ago she continues to rise beyond expectations and puts her absolute best into her instruction. We are so lucky to have her as a part of the team as well!"

"Abigale has done such an amazing job bonding with the children and has the best energy! She always has a smile on her face and is always ready to help with whatever is needed! Even though she may be somewhat new, watching her teach you would think she has been doing it for years!
-Lesli E.

"I trained Abigale in her first few weeks with us and from the start she was invested in learning. She was always willing to listen and give ideas as well. She is such a great addition to our team!”
